Delhi Daredevils fans can taste sweet success in Nirula’s Ice Cream

New Delhi 7th March, 2009 : Nirula’s, Delhi’s most loved quick service restaurant chain, have today announced their association with Delhi Daredevils Members Club in a special event held at Nirula’s in Connaught Place. Nirula’s Ice Cream Parlour, introduced in 1970s, was one of India’s pioneering ice cream chains, which made ice cream eating a ritual amongst Delhiites regardless of the weather.

Nirula’s is a name synonymous with the best quality Indian Ice creams for several decades. Nirula’s has a tradition of launching a special flavour every month. Nirula’s Flavour of the Month for April 09 is dedicated it to the Delhi Daredevils Members Club. While many of Delhi Daredevils players are engaged in practice sessions and matches, two of the stars, Manoj Tiwari and Aavishkar Salvi, unveiled the “Daredevil” flavor of the month ice cream at the event organized at Nirula’s.

Speaking on the association, Samir Kuckreja, CEO & Managing Director, Nirula’s said, “Nirula’s Ice Creams have been cherished over generations by Delhiites. They contribute to a third of our total sales and we constantly try to innovate in the segment – be it in the form of the Flavour of the Month or India’s first ice cream museum. For the first time in Nirula’s history, we are dedicating a Nirula’s Flavour of the month to a cricket fan club. And what could be more appropriate than the Delhi Daredevils Members Club.”

Gracing the event, Vidur Naik, Marketing Manager of GMR Sports that owns the Delhi Daredevils said, “We all have grown up having Nirula’s Ice Cream. Delhi Daredevils Members Club is the institutionalization and expression of the love and faith that fans have for the team. It is an honour to lend the name of the Club to Delhi’s most loved brand of ice cream.”

Also present at the event were some lucky Nirula’s Scholar’s Award winners for Year 2009. Nirula’s has been running the Scholar’s Award programme for over 15 years. Thousands of school students scoring 90% and above visit their nearest Nirula’s restaurant to show their annual report card to the Manager and are rewarded with a free ice cream sundae. This year, some of them were given an added treat in the form of a meet-an-greet session with the stars of Delhi Daredevils at the event.

In 2007, Nirula’s also launched India’s first and only Ice Cream Museum at its ice cream plant in Noida. Nirula’s ice creams were the first to receive the HACCP certification in India, are 100% vegetarian and made of pure milk. With signature flavours like Delhi Delight, Manhattan Mania, 21 Love, Jamoca Almond Fudge, Nutty Buddy and many more, the customers are hard pressed to choose a favourite. Nirula's Hot Chocolate Fudge, which evokes sweet memories of school and college of all Delhites, is so popular that Nirula's loyalists have time and again suggested that they get it patented!
